The bright yellow of the canola fields has not yet covered the fields. They are still patches of green with a slight yellow hue. Here and there the dark, moist brown of the freshly ploughed areas offer contrast and stop the gaze from gliding over the tiny rapeseed flowers straight to the horizon.
When your mesmerised stare has finally reached the green hills on the horizon, the view of the big trees poking into the sky yank you back to what’s in front of you - a pond. A dozen ducks silently disturb the reflection of the grey morning sky. The colour reminds you of the cold.
You suddenly become painfully aware of you ears freezing. Picturing their vivid red colour, you head back form you big detour, straight to the train station and to work, to another rhythm of perception of your surroundings.
